The Midwest is often referred to as ‘God’s Country’. The rolling farmland, spectacular bluffs, the majestic Mississippi River Valley, and abundant wildlife are all great justifications for the nickname. John & Beth have already executed several outstanding projects that have made a huge impact in local communities. John has over 45 years of experience in agricultural and land management as both a business owner and employee of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Beth is an educator at a local college and possesses over 30 years of teaching experience. Both John and Beth are extremely passionate about not only protecting the environment but also enjoying it.

Rocky Mountain Chapter President

Kelsey Wager

The Rocky Mountains are one our world’s natural wonders. Towering peaks, endless vistas of evergreen trees, rushing snowmelt rivers, and untouched wildlife characterize this stunning region. With such a daily presence of nature’s raw beauty, it is to no surprise that the local population is regarded as one of the most environmentally conscious. As a Colorado native, Kelsey is proud to be a part of this ‘tree-hugger’ society and is committed to making an impact not only through AWE but also her professional career. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in Environmental Chemistry at Colorado State University – Pueblo. Understanding the chemical and biochemical phenomena that occur in nature is fundamental in identifying and developing solutions for our world’s environmental issues.

New England Chapter President

Ken Rowe

The dynamic Northeast offers a remarkable opportunity for environmentally focused individuals to make an impact. The Adirondacks, Appalachians,  Atlantic Ocean and several other iconic natural areas are amidst one of the greatest metropolitan areas in the world. Ken has the skill set necessary to lead this region into a more sustainable future. He has been admitted to Harvard Business School and will be an MBA candidate in the class of 2018. During his time in the military Ken served with the 75th Ranger Regiment, completed two deployments to Afghanistan, and most recently an Aid de Camp for a General Officer. He has a degree in Environmental Geography from West Point. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys skiing and trail running with his wife, Maile, who is a Harvard Law student.

Pacific Northwest Chapter President

Marcel Alvarez

The Pacific Northwest is arguably the most beautiful place in the world. This majestic region is comprised of towering mountains, crystal clear lakes and rivers, and the stunning Pacific Ocean. As the area’s population continues to grow exponentially, it will require tremendous effort and leadership to keep it pristine. That is precisely why Marcel will be the regional Chapter President. Marcel is a U.S. Army Ranger, graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and has served in numerous leadership positions within the 23rd Infantry Regiment. He and his wife, Kelly, have great appreciation for the outdoors and truly understand the importance of stewardship. The Alvarez family stays extremely active with volunteer work, hiking with their dogs, and exploring the Northwest. They are the perfect team to execute our mission.
